Joining the #SpeakforME campaign this week is Julie Morgan, Assembly Member for Cardiff North. Julie met us in the Senedd to speak out for her constituents suffering from myalgic encephalomyelitis, and all those suffering from ME/CFS in the UK.
Throughout the interview Julie highlights the important role politicians can play in speaking out about ME. Both in publicly stating the illness is real and physical, and to offer reassure to sufferers that ME is being recognised. She explains how this can be achieved through awareness events, such as the MillionsMissing event which MESiG held on the steps of the Senedd last year.
Most importantly to us here at MESiG Julie spoke about the action needed in recognising ME across the health care system, including the need for training so that medical professionals can better understand ME.
